This article, Hub:Gliese Galaxy, is a part of the Gliese Galaxy universe created by Hotel-Toast.
Summary coming soon.
Disc Galaxy (Actually a spiral galaxy with nearly indistinguishable arms) (S0)
Centauri and Rigel, both spiral.
Development and signs of life
Gliese formed 12 billion years BG (Before the Grox), shortly after the Big Bang. By 6 billion BG, Gliese had many stars shining in it. Yellow main sequence stars formed early died off and opened room for large stars. These large stars produced the elements needed for life to prosper, and they were released when these stars died off.
The planets, formely barren rocks, began to develop life. 3 billion years later, the first cells evolved, and, in 500 million BG, the first multicellular creatures set foot on land.
Arrival of the Grox
The Grox arrived in 0 AG (After the Grox). Since most creatures were either tribal or not even sentient, they had no competion and expanded very fast.
However, in 50 AG, the 2400-system Grox empire suffered an uprising. A colony fell in love for nature, and saw their leaders as an obstacle to their love. That colony signed its indepence in 53 AG, and started to conquer and terraform many systems of their former leaders. By 500 AG, the former single colony conquered 1199 systems.
A massive war erupted between them. The Gliese Grox Monarchy developed an enhanced Staff of Life with unlimited uses, and the Grox developed an anti-terraforming weapon. Both sides used these weapons to kill each other until both sides remained with a single system left. Then, both Grox signed a permanent truce, and banned these weapons.
First native spacefaring races
In 5000 AG, in the Outer core region, the very first native spacefaring race evolved: The Strugglefish.
They discovered the Gliese Grox Monarchy very early, and both developed a nice relationship. They worked together, traded together and soon they became allies.
In 6500 AG, in the Lime Arm, another spacefaring race evolved: the Quumbert.
The Quumbert used monoliths on many races on the space, spreading the seed through the entire arm.
By 10000 AG, the galaxy was filled with spacefaring races, thanks to the efforts of Quumbert, Strugglefish and Gliese Grox.
The War for The Jewel
In 60000 AG, the galaxy was very developed. Many races traded, engaged in war, created alliances. The galaxy was relatively tranquil, except for the occasional attacks from pirates and from the Grox.
Until a precious jewel was found on a planet colonized by the Quumbert. The jewel worth trillions of SporeBucks or Gliese Golds. Many empires disputed for the jewel and the galaxy, by that time peaceful, became a battlefield.
I'll write more later.
The galaxies are named after stars: Gliese is named after Gliese 703; Rigel is name after the class A star, and Centauri is named after Proxima Centauri.
